Will a 2005 3.8 go into my 2004 3.8 car with no problem?
I was on car-part.com and when I pulled up the screen looking for a motor it was only showing 2004 motors to replace 2004 car. Usually if there are interchangeable years it will pop up 2005 2006 motors to so i wasnt sure if there is maybe a small difference somewhere
Depends on what your swapping the motor into. Say if it's Regal or Impala, then no, it won't just drop in and work. If it's a GP then it depends on if it's NA or S/C.
The motor is coming out of a 2005 Grand prix and I am wanting to do a top swap and then put it in my 2004 GTP car. I know that the compression is different in a non S/C engine but I read most guys do the swap for more horsepower and it shouldnt affect it having higher compression. It just my daily i dont race it or anything lol
your still gonna want a tune for that. and you'll want to add headers too.
your thinking of doing what i just a did, its called a bottom swap. makes the car feel better then the old engine. more pep for sure.
i have a dhp tuner, tuned it myself with some help. you need the timing lowered. so you may as well get a full tune for it.
i think reptile can now do 04 pcm's. he sells them here.
I bet the reason this say it's different is because 04 has a steel oil pan and 05+ has aluminum.
Some parts might have to updated to make it work.
