This guy sold me a car and lied about the odometer (which was out due to him breaking the resistors off of the cluster circuit board). Said it had 160000 and it ended up having 210000. He was also supposed to follow up with me on the missing center cap and I have not heard back from him. Buyer beware.

I'm going to get you the center cap. I never broke any resistors off the cluster that's a ridiculous statement. I showed you every flaw I could on the car before you bought it and you still paid the price we agreed on. I sold it for my dad so I never had anything to do with the car other than fixing things here and there.

If you really bought a car with a broken odometer and complain about the milage that's your problem. Don't complain when it's off from what the previous owner.

You bought a car knowing the odometer was broken and there was a chance it could be way off. Dan disclosed everything to his knowledge wrong with the car and you still chose to buy it.

"He broke the resistors off".... If iirc its a common problem with buicks they break all the time i seriouly doubt he "broke them off" you bought a car without an odometer reading for a price you agreed upon i don't really see what the big deal is.

#1. How do you know he broke them off and they didnt break off after being old?
#2. You bought a car without a working odometer and trust the seller.... THATS a big no no.
#3. You paid a fair price for the car even with the higher miles.
#4. A center cap? Really? You're going to ***** about that?

Long story short... Im not going to delete this thread because it would look like I am just trying to protect DSmuts when I dont feel he needs protecting. Every one has the right to voice their opinions but Be Wary of dragging someone name through the mud just because it didn't work out exactly like you thought it would. I myself have bought several items from DSmuts, and every one of them were exactly as he described them. I even got a cluster from him once and it didnt work in my car (because my car is a dumb 97) yet I didnt go back and blame him for it. You paid $1400 for a car that runs and drives. For that kinda money you dont get perfect.

want a perfect new vehicle you dont have to worry about go buy a god damn honda with a pretty little warranty certificate!!!!

Don't worry about miles..it's a 3800..stock they run forever!!! And the resistors fall off when the solder heats up. Very common issue on those.

if the resistor is broken how does anyone know it "ended" up having 210000? must be that magical broken odometer that said that?

maybe he heard the engine whisper "hey man i actually have eleventybillion miles"........

    this thread makes me laugh.

You bought a car that runs and drives for $1400 and your mad some stuff is wrong with it lol

You went and looked at it and went for a test drive right? It would be different if it was advertising as mint wanted a lot more for it and had it shipped to you and when you received it. It was not as stated

Did my post confuse you? BLAME AUTOCORRECT!

Curious how you know there is 210k on it? Did you run a title check? So you know, you can run a title check BEFORE you buy a car...only 5 bucks...and see any title inconsistencies.

1- the solder was redone on the resistors so someone at some point was in there. Jumping to conclusions about it being Dan was wrong of me. I just assume it was him.

2- I have had previous experiences with Dan and thought I could trust his statement of 160k miles. My fault.

3- the strut tower in the trunk is rusted thru... so no.

4- with all of the other things wrong with the car, yes I'm going to complain about the center cap.

The purpose of this thread is not to drag Dan thru the mud, it is to advise members to be cautious when dealing with him.

This car was disgusting and I thought I could clean it up and add a few hundred bucks to the sale price.

I soldered new resistors in. This is a 50k mile difference, not 100 miles.

My fault for trusting his word, yes. All I'm saying is proceed with caution. I was heated this morning and vented my frustrations on here.

Doesn't the odometer continue to track the mileage? When the solder on the resistors breaks, it's just causes the display to not light up..... Right?

Kinda like just blocking the odo on a analog display. The numbers continue to roll, you just can't see them. Or am I wrong?

    Edit: ^^^Ninja'd

pretty sure Dan showed you the strut towers. so i guess its time to deal with it and stop asking for your money back

I'm dealing with it. I figured asking for my money back was worth a shot considering...

Ok. Since this is still going.. Lets just get one thing clear and in the open...

DID Dan show you the rust on the strut towers?

I dont blame you for being disappointed. But to make the kind of post on here like you did, was a serious accusation. So all I am asking for is that if you make those kinds of claims, You simply back it up. You have the right to feel how ever you want. And you have the right to ask for your money back. BUT you made assumptions on a sale of a used car. I HONESTLY dont think Dan was trying to get one over on you. But that is easy for me to say since I dont sit where you sit. All I am saying is that, you bought a car and trusted his word. NOW you wanna believe that not only did he lie to you, but he lied to you in order to stick you with a car that you feel isnt worth the money.
