    thanks for the reply. I ended up going with a reman from detriot with lifetime warranty. Curious how did you mark your tie rods for re install and did you drain all of the fluid out completely or just want ran out with lines dropped. I am starting this later today so want to make sure i do everything that needs to be that is necessary. Also my steering wheel is already crooked so im hoping this will fix it in the process. Thanks for your help.

    Hi, I let all the fluid run out through the line which empties the pump. I poured some p/s fluid in the pump to clean the pump and clear the old fluid from the lines. This isn't a complete p/s flush, but since the front was lifted I figured most the old fluid was drained and wasn't worried about any fluid that remained in the lines. I counted the number of threads before the nut on the inner tie-rods and used that as a reference point. When I took the car in, my alignment wasn't to far off. Even though your steering wheel is off, make sure it's centered when you remove the pinch bolt from the half shaft. You may have to turn the steering wheel slightly to access the bolt, but make sure it's centered when installing the rack. Also do not let the steering wheel spin freely, you don't want to damage the clockspring. The new rack is centered, so if your steering wheel is centered when you install everything will go fine with the alignment.

    thanks man this is alot of help. just want to make sure i do everything exact so i dont mess anything up. About to start here in an hour or so. Wish me luck. Also i am doing this by myself so about to get creative with some jack stands and jack. especially since i do not have an engine hoist.

    slow down with the engine hoist talk lol

    you "need two jack stands and a jack" jack stands at the rockers if they hold weight still, then a jack under th emiddle of the sub frame then remove the two rear cradle bolts and lower the frame with the jack.


    its lowered like 6 inches here.





    heres a vid, being you will be on your back, take both front wheels off and then break the both tie rods lock nuts free, then pop the ends off. count the turns you took the tie rod end off, put them back on the same turns. you will need an alignment when your dont still, but it will be close.




    being ive done this 2 times now iver learned a few little tricks, to get the shaft back on the rack, pull the shaft down from the boot in the open, then jack the sub frame up to it and push the shaft back on in the open under the boot. if you jack the frame back up then try to get it on its like the biggest pita ever.

    So I started everything. And then got stopped in my trax. As i was counting the threads on my inner tie rods i looked over and saw a plug coming out of my r&p. Went and looked at the one they sent me and it did not have any wires or plugs anywhere on it. So i have to assume i have the wrong one right? I mean its my fault i let them ask the questions about fitment and they looked to see if i had magnasteer or not based on my VIN. Problem is the Car (Shell & Windows) is 98 ...everything in it is from a 99, and the engine is an 06. It is plugged into what appears to be the transmission. Guess i am going to have to call them back tomorrow and get the right one

    And Yep Scottydoggs I have watched that video like 5000 times lol! And in the video he has a plug that he plugs in. Smh..i should have looked before i ordered it
