Anybody know how to remove the parking brake on the left rear side. I need to change the caliper as the brake fluid is leaking out of the piston. Also I want to bleed all the calipers what tire to I start from? Stray from furthest from the master cylinder?
It's for my grand prix 2008

Parking brake is built onto the caliper. Yes bleed furthest from the MC

The easiest way I've found to remove the parking brake cable from the caliper is to first loosen the cable first at the adjuster in the center where the cable splits. Use penetrating oil and let it sit because it will be pretty rusty most likely. Then just rotate the inner nut until the cable has slack in it.
Once it's got some slack, you can separate the cable at that same location where it splits to the left and right, you should see how it comes apart once it's loose, but to give you a rough idea here's a picture I have handy.
Then take off the caliper and slide the cable out of the caliper assembly, and reverse the process. I believe the cable detaches in the same manner at the caliper, you just slide the cable in a bit and hold the crimped metal at the end out of the way, then slide it back out.
And something of interest, FWD vehicles have their brake lines split diagonally instead of being split between the front and the rear, so you actually want to start at the rear driver's side, and then the rear passenger, on to the front passenger side, and finally the front driver's side. I had success doing it the "traditional way" the first time I bled my brakes, but the way I just mentioned is really how you should bleed a FWD vehicle's braking system. And don't let the master cylinder go dry, or you'll have to start all over.

Perfect that was my second question, I changed the rear caliper today and for the cable I struggled with it but I got it out. I insured there is no air bubble in the lines when I installed the new caliper. My other question was when I engaged the parking brake the rear tire still spins freely, isn't it suppose to not spin anymore when the parking brake is engaged? When I swapped the caliper I ensured that the parking brake extracted and release fine. Now trying to figure out from the picture above how do I adjust the parking brake so when engage the rear tire that is up in the air doesn't spin anymore.

Took a quick look at it and I see the adjuster nut to turn, should I adjust it so the tire stop spinning when engaged and do I need to do both sides?

what you want to do is open the star wheel up by turning it till the e brake pads are just almost touching the drum in the rotor when the e brake is off.
make it tighter, put rotor on if it spins free still, make it tighter, once you feel/ hear it drag, back it off till it stops dragging.
do both sides. your e brake will have never felt better.

Is it better to do it with the tires on or off? So as of now when the ebrake is on the tires are still spinning so I know for sure the ebrake is not doing anything. I have done drums before but never rotors, what do you mean by opening the star wheel up?

It has the parking brakes IN THE CALIPERS as in no drums for parking brake shoes.

nope, never read the op lol he said star wheel i went with the 97-03 brakes.
judging by the diagram you may have to adjust the cable. same deal i guess, brake off tighten till it drags, then back it off.

What are you talking about Fivefinger, didn't know what he meant by star wheel and I have adjusted brakes that have drums and shoes but never rotors. Anyways will try to adjust the ebrake line.

on your year the caliper cable makes the caliper tight with the e brake applied. the 97-03 have a drum inside the rotor, you adjust them just like you would old school drum brakes.
so if its not working, you need to make that cable tighter, unless theres a adjuster off the caliper to take slack out of the cable.
i dont have your year brakes so no first hand experience with that style caliper.

Just to clarify, when members talk about the rear 97-03 rotors, they say drum but it's really the HAT of the rotor
