as the title states I am in the need for new struts. Dont get me wrong i love the bilstiens but would like something a little better, also what is the best brand sway bars to get? and yes i searched and read through the diff. posts but nothing is gxp specific, all i could find is will not fit 04-08 but will fit gxp and then will fit all 04-08; which those 2 condradict themselves.

Thanks in advance to those that help

Bilsteins are top of the food chain

For coilovers you'd also need a bracket and shorter endlinks made to attach to the factory Gxp sway ( not a bad option at all. ) or go buy new97-03 lower control arms and a doorman 35mm bar and be done with it.

If you want coilvers you can convert your existing set to them. Very simple process and gives you a way to select how stiff/soft you want to go. Both me and 4THGENCAMAROFAN did write ups on this alreads

this is most likely the route im going to take, although i am looking into DIY coilovers at the moment just never considered it before

and one more question, will bilstiens with a lowering spring 1-2" work for handling not just looks.

i guess i should have mentioned lowering the car an inch or 2 is my main goal after stiffer handling

If you only want to go a couple of inches then you can do that with normal drop springs, no need to go coilovers.

If you want decently high spring rates, then coilovers are the only route. By that, I mean between 300-450 lbs/in. I think stock is around 100, lowering springs closer to 200. Which are still pretty low. A bigger sway bar makes a bigger difference.

At this point, you might as well have your current struts rebuilt as the Bilsteins are discontinued.

But if you can find the struts off a Gxp that are in good condition use them. The body is shorter than the agx strut body as well.
