    Hi All,

The day I drove my 2003 GP GT home, I made the mistake of setting the parking brake - my aunt (prev owner since new) had NEVER used it in the 65K miles she had on it in 2012. It stuck, but with some driving back and forth, banging the rotor from the backside with a hammer, etc it let go without much trouble. I've chosen to forget about it for the past year and a half I've had the car, but this weekend need to do new back brakes and figured while I'm in there, I'll get a rebuild kit and redo the E-brake with the new springs, lube it up real good, etc.

How hard is it to swap out the pads and rest of the assembly and is there anything I need to know in advance? Pads are probably shot as the tire guys hung it up about half way last year and I just drove the damn thing and let the parking brake pads melt down a bit 'til she no longer resisted.

the e brake is pretty much like doing old school drum brakes.

theres 1 or 2 springs up top, one at the star wheel. and a pin with a clip that holds the shoes to the backing plate. not much to them.

if they were sticking id make sure the cables not rusted up and sticking if the pads are still there once you get the rotor off.

to adjust the new shoes turn the star wheel to open the shoes up, slide the rotor on test fit/spin till you feel them dragging, then back em off a bit till it spins free.
