I am having no luck with the search function and when ever i find what i am looking for on google it just sends me too the home page and i am back too square one, so i am just going too post this and get it over with...

it is now too my understanding you can do two piston F body brake caliper swaps on my car? is this true? and if so i have questions

is it a direct bolt on too the steering knuckle and require no other modifications too any of the brake system, rotors, lines, ect? will the brake caliper fit in my stock 16 inch aluminum wheels? what cars do the brake calipers typically come off from? how much am i looking for a used set of F body calipers or new? are there any known negative effects too the vehicles performance as a result of this swap, pedal feel? brake response?

thanks again, like i said tons of questions... XD

F body swap ... if you read is 98-02 Camaro/Firebird. Put the calipers on the wrong sides so the bleeders are at the top where they belong. And ...are what brand of pads and rotors good?

I Have not done my brakes yet. I plan on giving the Callahan ceramic pads, rotors and rebuilt calipers a try. something else always comes up so I have had to put them off. last year I put a set of Callahan rotors and pads on my wife's turbo Beetle and seem to work well. They have lasted longer than the usual Auto zone ceramics and Auto zone rotors I previously used on her car. I was replacing them every spring. Hopefully they will have the dual piston Impala/Monte kits back in stock soon so I can go with them. They will just bolt right up and no bushings will be needed.

Sure Why not? They are rebuilt calipers (should work like new) and they are powder coated red.
They also come with pads and rotors. Any way the yards around here are super proud of their rusty parts and I work the same time they are open.

    Ughhhh.... here we go again

If you look hard enough on ebay, you can get fbodies for 50 bucks a pair, used....obviously.

Since the fbody brackets use an M12 bolt, you need to work around that. My preferred method is to drill and tap the brackets for an M14x2 bolt that the wbodies use. I've drilled and tapped about 6 sets so far and they have worked flawlessly. So if you go that route, and you need it done, any machine shop can do it, or get ahold of me and we can work something out to where I'll get it done and have them back asap to you.

Rotor and pad wise, it's your call. Centric rotors from rock auto are a good choice. Not too expensive and they get the job done. You'll need the fbody rotors, and before you question the bolt pattern difference, the holes in the rotors are large enough to make up the slack of the few mm dia difference. The stock replacement rotors for the fbodies are also the same part number as impala rotors.

Like Bill said, with the fbodies, you need to install them opposite of the fbody cars so the bleeders are on the top, (air goes up, not down)

Can you buy an m 12 bolt or is it better to just tap the holes

i used the mcmaster.com steel bearing sleeve, been there for over 2 years now, not a single problem with them, they cost 12 bucks shipped for 4 of them.

An m12 bolt won't work since the steering knuckles are tapped m14x2. If you look over the brake upgrade thread, then you'll find there is another way that involves some threaded bushings and stuff but I don't prefer that method. I feel it's safer and better to drill and tap the brackets so you can use your factory bracket bolts.

the up grade is like night and day.

this bearing sleeve goes in the steering knuckle, where the bolts for the caliper bracket go. the issue is the w body caliper bracket bolts are larger then the F body bolts, so you either drill and tap the f body bracket for the w body bolt, or use the sleeve to keep the smaller bolt centered so it all lines up right.

this thread shows step by step how to swap them over lines and all. it should clear up any questions. http://www.regalgs.org/topic/54303-f...brake-upgrade/

turns out its a real brand of auto parts....who knew? search for them on e bay looks like a rather good deal really.

still haven't heard any input as to how the pads and rotors hold up tho.
