A clicking sound is typically a CV joint. Jack up the drivers side and grab the CV shaft and pull/push on it and see if you get any play/clunk. It was fighting this for a while on my 00 GT and found that the CV shaft seemed ok, but as soon as I put donward force on the shaft closer back to where it connects to the trans I got a clunk. Come to find out the inner CV joint was shot. And no, the boot was not torn and there were no outward signs of damage. Just the clunk in the shaft and a vibration at speed.
If you go the route of replacing the CV axle, get the Napa Gold brand. Autozone and other places don't seem to hold up very well, even with a good warranty how many times a year do you really want to replace it?
