My ladyfriend has an 04 Grand Prix GT, that has some issues. The ABS Light, Traction Control disabled, and the check engine light, are all on.
She took it to a local repair shop, and had it put on a scanner, to see what the issues were.
Results were, it needed a new thermostat, as car wasn't coming up to temp. She was told that the ABS sensor on the left front wheel, was not functioning. She was also told, that her catalytic converter needed replacing.
I replaced the thermostat, and installed a new wheel bearing, with the ABS sensor. While apart, I cleaned the connections, and added dielectric grease to the connection.
I will be replacing the catalytic converter soon, but I first want to read the code numbers the repair shop got during the scan.
After replacing the first two, I disconnected the battery, to erase the codes.
When I started it back up, all codes were gone.
The next time I started it up, the ABS and Traction Control disabled lights were back on.
I have read other threads on this forum about the ABS module being defective. I have also read where if the brake fluid is low in the resevour, it will activate the lights too.
I have checked the brake fluid, and that is OK.
So now I'm guessing that the ABS module is bad.
I've heard of a place where one can send the module in, and can be rebuilt.
Does anyone know of this place, and where to send it to? Is it a real fix?
I don't mind doing maintainance on the car, but I don't want a money pit either.
Where is the module located?
Can someone enlighten me on this subject? Any and all replies will be appreciated.
