As the topic says do I need a new control arm? This is what the one bushing looks like. I am pretty sure the bushing is shot just wanted to make sure. I looked at the other side and it has the gap in the bushing towards the middle but not around the edge.
From what I read on here most people prefer to replace the whole arm instead of just the bushing due to it being a PITA.

Yeah looks like you could use a new one. Much easier to replace the whole arm...They are like $50 a piece for Dorman ones from Rockauto, with the balljoint included. You can use one of their coupon codes to get 10% off as well

The Doorman control arms for a 2006-2008 Grand Prix are $40 a piece and are exactly the same as the previous generation. IDK why. But you could get those and use the 10% discount code to save a bit more.

Except that the sway link mount is missing on the newer style as the sway link mounts on the strut rather than the lower control arm. You could get away with 97-03 on the newer car and not use the sway link bracket.

The reason he suggested 06 and up is that they added the sway link back to the LCA rather than the strut. Strut based sways are only on 04-05

Yep. What he said. Look em up on RockAuto. They are exactly the same 06-08 and 97-03.

For the 06-08 they list different ones for two different sway bar sizes. 20mm and 24mm. I have no idea what size mine is and don't feel like measuring it so I went with the ones for my 2000. It was only a $5 difference in price.

Install goes pretty smoothly just make sure you have an 18mm wrench beforehand, for the balljoint...Lots of sets like to skip the 18mm

It really wouldn't have mattered. I don't know why they give two options, but it's all the same whether you chose the 20 or 24mm bar size.
