I just swapped my rack out on my 98 gtp because i only had power steering when turning right. The rack i got out of the junkyard and now my wheel turns itself all the way to either side with just the slightest movement of the wheel if you aren't holding on tight you end up on the sidewalk. I just took it around the block twice and it's ridiculous. If anyone has any suggestions i'd appreciate it I hate driving my minivan when i have a nice gtp sitting in the driveway.

Is your alignment way out of whack?

I dunno if the pcm stores data on steering like it does the transmission, but it may be worthwhile to reset it by leaving the battery disconnected for a while. Or use a tuner.... there's definitely at least 3 different severity settings for magnasteer if you have a tuner

well if you turn it it turns really hard then moves on it's own. I unhooked the wire for the magnasteer and it's still doing it. I thought it would just reset to the hardest setting but it still does the same thing.

I say dump the cables for a while and let everything reset then see what you get. Can't hurt and it's free to try.

I unhooked the battery and no change. I just ordered a new one and I'm getting my money back from the junk yard
