I'm having a weird issue with my DIC. Whenever I accelerate, the Trac Off light comes on and flashes. The Trac button works as far as it turns on the Trac Off light and it remains lit. Are my hubs going out? If so, I thought they would also turn on the ABS light as well.

If its comming on during light acceleration, normal driving then I would say possiblly hubs, could be the controller module. Need to have it checked out tho, that's not normal. At least not that Ive seen.

It comes on when I give it gas, light or heavy. It goes off when I let off the pedal. Which module are you speaking of? The brake module?

May or may not help you, but my '97 GP was missing a 'micro relay' in the engine bay fuse box. On my car its labeled as '15', and is for 'f. pmp. spd control' or something very close to that. Previous owner might have removed it. I had a similar problem until i replaced it for $10 at autozone.

My 'low trac' would come on intermittently when driving, then my 'trac off' and 'check tire pressure' both lit up for the duration of the drive, and hitting 'trac' button wouldn't help it. Its been 3 days and no more of that. I'd thought it was a hub sensor! Good luck.

very possible that the hubs are goin bad or just one of them. no this shouldnt effect the abs because theese wheels do tend to slip alot in the rain or snow or wtv and its just thinking you have wheel spin. abs would come on if wheel speeds are diffrent then others for a set amount of time. but would start with the trac light.

I've got new front hubs in and ordered a module from Morad. As soon as the module, rotors, and pads arrrive, I'll slap them on and see what happens.

The hubs are looking more likely as now my ABS light is on along with my Trac Off light.

OK, I've replaced all four hubs, rotors, and pads. I've also replaced the brake module. After which, my ABS and Trac Off light stayed on and my radio didn't work. Changed the radio fuse under the hood, now the ABS light is off and the radio works again. My DIC still has the flashing zeros and the Trac Off light still comes on when I hit the gas pedal. It comes on even in park. I'm scratching my head at this point.

DIC flashing zero sounds like a PCM stuck in program mode.

rip it all out and call it a day? ABS lights take for ever to track down it seems it even took the dealer several weeks to finally get min efixed when I bought the car

So, how do I get it out of program mode? Would I be able to use a PCM out of a 97GT in my 97SE(both 3.8's)?

To answer the first bit, it may be a bad PCM or try using a tuner.

For the second bit, I think that should work.

Well, I threw in a PCM I got from a 97 GT. Sure enough, all my DIC issues went away. Thanks to matt5112 for that suggestion. The downside is, on the way home, climbing a hill on the express way, it starts to sputter and loose power. I get home, pull the codes and I get a P0304. It's due for a tune up anyway. Amazing how much one plug can kill the power.

If I remember correctly from my other GP, plugs 4 and 6 are a real PITA to get to.

There are some brackets you can remove to make it easier.

Got the plugs in and reset my codes. 4 and 6 were a lot easier than I remember them being. 2 was harder but still not that bad. I'm putting in a new compressor and drier so I didn't put it all back together yet. How long does it take the PCM to recalibrate so I know that I took care of my P0304?

OK, got it all put back together. Car was still throwing the P0304. Now, though, there is a knock in the engine. I've read through the other threads on here about the P0304, but none dealt with a knock. I changed out the coil packs, cleared my codes, then drove around for about 10-15 miles. Not getting the P0304, but the knock is pretty significant, tranny is shifting at higher RPMS, 3500-4500, and there is not much power in her. If the P0304 came back, I was going to try changing the injector on 4. I'm really concerned about the knock though. I know a bad injector would cause it to loose power, but would it cause it to knock and shift poorly?
