My car is an 01regal gs with around 135k on it. I've replaced both cv axles in the last year and both lower motor mounts. I've got a shimmy that I can feel in the steering wheel that starts around 65 at cruising speed. If I give it gas I don't get the shimmy under acceleration. Both tie rod ends have been replaced and I just put a new set of tires on this past week. I thought the shimmy was due solely to the tires because my old ones were worn down and didn't track straight. I could literally watch the tread moving back and forth as the tires spun. Also, the alignment was just done in like september. What should I be looking for as far as the shimmy goes. I know high speed cruising shimmy normally points to tire balance or something like that but everything is good. I've checked my ball joints and hubs and the 3 and 9 and 6 and 12 checks out. I don't want to be throwing parts at the car to fix this issue but I know it can be fixed. I know my stabilizer bar end links are dry rotted and I need to change those but don't think they would be the issue. I was looking at changing those as well as my control arms due to age on both (they are original as far as I can tell). Any ideas would be appreciated cause I hate having to bring the car in the determine what the issue is.

I do know that my front rotors are slightly off because I can feel a slight vibration when braking. I know if they are unbalanced I could get some shimmy out of them but is it possible this could be the culprit? I was debating changing them out for new but it's cold right now and just haven't gotten around to it.

To add to this, I'm getting a rattling from my driver's front when driving over bumpy roads. I've been reading and this sounds like ball joints being wore out. But can ball joints cause the shimmy in my wheels as well?

It sounds like ball joints to me. Put a pry bar in between the steering knuckle and the lca and try to pry down it shouldn't move. I got both lca with bushings and ball joints shipped to my house from rock auto for $103.

So I brought the car to big 10 where I got the tires to check the suspension out. They found nothing wrong except the strut made some small noise which is probably my clunk over the bumps. However one of my wheels was off by 1.25 oz they said so they rebalanced them all and didn't charge me anything. I still have some shimmy that I think is due to warped rotors cause I'm getting some pulsation on braking.

get up to speed about 70-80 mph and slam on the brakes until you are almost stopped but don't stop completely and keep going. Do that 2-3 times it's called brake scrubbing and it stopped the shaking on my wifes ga.
