You do not need calipers. Order pads for your car and the caliper brackets and rotors from the Monte. As stated, you will also need the hardware kit to get the rubber boots that cover the caliper slide pins. I just did this a little over a month ago and it is a nice upgrade.

Brackets run about $50 shipped with the hardware kit. Pads and rotors depend on the quality you buy.

not unless he wants to get the 06+ monte/impala which are dual piston and way better then the stock calipers.

Thats what I thought he was talking about.
Screw using stock calipers and 12" brackets..

You can get 06+ monte/impala calipers and brackets for around the same price as those 12" old monte brackets.

i actually did not know that. so i could do an 06+ upgrade? what all would i need? the rotors for an 06 monte are 55 bucks a piece. not looking to spend that much. or could i use different rotors.

From my understanding you don't NEED to get new calipers. You need the brackets, rotors, and pads along with the sleeves for the bracket and correct bolt. This would give you more pad contact patch on the rotor which would increase your stopping power. Adding on the dual piston calipers and even larger brake pads provides even more stopping power. If your on a budget I'd honestly just go with stock for right now and save up to get a nice set of 12" dual piston calipers and parts for the upgrade. Then you can paint them and do other such things to make it a nice clean upgrade.

You are talking about F-body calipers...

Totally different. Im talking about 06+ impala/monte calipers. They bolt on like stock. No sleeves.

Go to rockauto and look up the caliper for the Monte. If you click on the part number, they give you a list of all cars that part cross references to. It is a long list so you shouldn't have to look to hard to find one of them in a junk yard.

As far as it not being much, I wouldn't say that. A different caliper is less of an improvement than bigger rotors or better pads. If money doesn't matter, you should do all three, but don't get cheap pads so that you can do the 12" upgrade. Better stock parts are better than an upgrade with cheap stuff.

Are you saying we could use the factory rear caliper and just upgrade the rotors and pads to a larger version? If so, then that seems much more feasible than the GXP upgrade where I replace the whole caliper.

On edit, I re-read this and I think you are all talking about the fronts, right?

Correct. This is only an upgrade for the fronts.

    Sorry to bump this....but...

My logic for using the cts-v calipers is this

LS1 F-body guys can bolt the CTS-V or Z Calipers no problem and since we can bolt the F-body brackets right to our cars and run the same size rotors then it should all technically work using the same method as we know.

The question comes into play with the rotor and from past experience with other cars we have resorted to other cars for our bolt-pattern and what not. Next closest option for us would be the 14" Rotors of a GT500, they run the same bolt pattern and centric hub bore. I'm thinking about giving this a try, especially since I found 2-piece 14" rotors for $700 and if the 6-pot g8 GXP brakes are $80 I will be getting those

Ridin' on chrome I'm lookin' at you for your opinion

btw caliper clearance will not be an issue for me as I'm going with some 19" rims next spring with a 30mm offset (need to roll my fenders)

****...the GXPs are not $84 anymore...more like $233 a piece

but the CTS-vs are $133 a piece which isn't all that bad

the rotor that could be used, right diameter and right thickness.

Now do they send you 1 or a set of 2...wording is fishy, but in a wierd way it "indicates a set"

BAER ERADISPEED-PLUS-TWO 14 FRONT ROTOR UPGRADE GT / V6 2005-2009 - CJ Pony Parts, Inc.

and even cheaper still (and this says "Rotors" meaning 2)

    http://www.stage3motorsports.com/pro...paign=B2261026

    So $133 x 2 = $266 + $610 = $876 for a 14" brake kit...not bad
