The first generation CTS-V is based on the same GM Sigma platform as the base model CTS. The use of a V8 engine required a unique engine cradle distinct from the base CTS V6. Larger anti-roll bars and larger shocks were also added. The spring rate was significantly increased. The 2006-2007 update also included a stronger rear differential and half shaft design. Unique front and rear treatments also included mesh grilles over the front openings, a track-ready suspension, and 18x8.5 inch wheels inside of P245/45R18 Z-rated Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar run-flat tires. Brakes were 14.0-inch (360 mm) rotors with four-piston Brembo calipers at each wheel. In addition, GM badges were added on 2006 models.
Ohh so do your home work next time.

These calipers are on a few different cars. Different color Different part # other wise same caliper.
Homeworks done my friend me 2 points you 0
Oh, great. Im wrong. Might have been smaller calipers though. Since they dont show up as the same part number.

So, lets see how we can get these on our cars then. Cuz the camaro calipers are the same as the G8 GXP and there only $84 from GM direct.

Thats dirt cheap for a 6pot caliper..
98 GTP-Mods? Yeah, lots of them

Was just pointing out the do your homework comment. If the G8 calipers are the same I agree it should be the best swap for the buck. Like I said in the posts and others said on the other forums. Those calipers are the same just different color. I believe whats screwing people up is the CTS-V uses 6 bolt wheels for some stupid reason so obviously the rotors cant be used. Calipers are the easy part getting the brackets and correct rotors to fit is the hard part

Go to rockauto and look up the caliper for the Monte. If you click on the part number, they give you a list of all cars that part cross references to. It is a long list so you shouldn't have to look to hard to find one of them in a junk yard.

As far as it not being much, I wouldn't say that. A different caliper is less of an improvement than bigger rotors or better pads. If money doesn't matter, you should do all three, but don't get cheap pads so that you can do the 12" upgrade. Better stock parts are better than an upgrade with cheap stuff.

2002 GTP: GMPP Sway Bars, BMR trailing arms, KYB AGX/Vogtlands, 12" brake upgrade
    Modified SSAC headers, K&N Intake, 3.4 MPS, S1X, Gen V, 104's, HPTuned.

Are you saying we could use the factory rear caliper and just upgrade the rotors and pads to a larger version? If so, then that seems much more feasible than the GXP upgrade where I replace the whole caliper.

On edit, I re-read this and I think you are all talking about the fronts, right?

Correct. This is only an upgrade for the fronts.

    Sorry to bump this....but...

My logic for using the cts-v calipers is this

LS1 F-body guys can bolt the CTS-V or Z Calipers no problem and since we can bolt the F-body brackets right to our cars and run the same size rotors then it should all technically work using the same method as we know.

The question comes into play with the rotor and from past experience with other cars we have resorted to other cars for our bolt-pattern and what not. Next closest option for us would be the 14" Rotors of a GT500, they run the same bolt pattern and centric hub bore. I'm thinking about giving this a try, especially since I found 2-piece 14" rotors for $700 and if the 6-pot g8 GXP brakes are $80 I will be getting those

Ridin' on chrome I'm lookin' at you for your opinion

btw caliper clearance will not be an issue for me as I'm going with some 19" rims next spring with a 30mm offset (need to roll my fenders)

****...the GXPs are not $84 anymore...more like $233 a piece

but the CTS-vs are $133 a piece which isn't all that bad

the rotor that could be used, right diameter and right thickness.

Now do they send you 1 or a set of 2...wording is fishy, but in a wierd way it "indicates a set"

BAER ERADISPEED-PLUS-TWO 14 FRONT ROTOR UPGRADE GT / V6 2005-2009 - CJ Pony Parts, Inc.

and even cheaper still (and this says "Rotors" meaning 2)

    http://www.stage3motorsports.com/pro...paign=B2261026

    So $133 x 2 = $266 + $610 = $876 for a 14" brake kit...not bad

IMO and like I said before, if its direct bolt up to the Trans am, its a direct bolt up to our cars...but finding the rotor is key. I think the rotors I posted will fit. I think.

    How big were his wheels?

My current caliper is about 1.5" away from the wheel, so I should be good, its gonna be a close fit but it'll fit....I think

I haven't had a chance to try yet...I will soon, probably next month, money has been tight with the start of school, but now I just got a few paychecks in to rebuild my cushion and Will start having some money to play with soon.

If you can get me a link to a guy on the regal forums, maybe he still has the calipers, cause I'll buy them off of him.

Na its okay, as of lately I just bought GXP calipers....

I am in the process of buying another car for track use only, so basically most of money will be heading that way and my Grand prix is pretty much done, with the exception of coilovers.

BUT if anyone is interested in doing the CTS-V calipers I'd be more then willing to help with getting the ball rolling with that. I have a very good feeling that everything I did in my research would work. I am here for any kind of help, as brakes are a major fetish of mine and I love to mess around with different setups
