didnt see it anywhere here...so. are they worth replacing? i mean they have kits with sway bars and bushings claiming theyre bigger and stronger but ive done measurements and my bars are the same size as the aftermarket. so whats the difference? are they better material or bent differently or is it just the bushings that make a difference? any help? this isnt my field but id like to have this knowledge... thanks guys.

bigger sway bars with poly bushings will help a bunch. the only thing i would do before sway bars are the trailing arms.

GM performance parts bars from Summit Racing, best price's period. +1 about the trailing arms as i just picked up a unused set of GMPP arms for $20!

No, they don't have the crushed and welded tube ends like the stock ones, which is the weak breaking point.

heck yeah it is I don't know how many I had to reweld or epoxy, or replace but it's like that on ventures, centurys, sillhouettes all sorts of gm cars.

seriously, trailing arms first. next if you only want to do one sway bar: do the rear (but id recommend both). then lower the car.

what kind of trailing arms are you talking about, bio? the ones from zzp? or somewhere else? i have to do some suspension work (i.e. struts, lowering springs, strut mounts, maybe sway bars, and now trailing arms lol). thanks.

just the tubular GMPP ones. if you want something expensive then have fun trying to find a speedbuilt or BMR set.

FYI the GMPP trailing arms have been discontinued. UMI makes a nice set of trailing arms. A member on another forum picked up a set at a good price on ebay. I have also read that the Grand Prix GXP trailing arms are good replacement for the GMPP one's.

i hate to intrude on the topic. but do grand prix's of the same body style have the same sway bars? for instance does a 98 grand prix 3.1 SE have the same sway bar as any other simaler body style grand prix?

Yes, I believe, that all the 01-03 GP's have the same sway bars, front and rear, the springs rates are diifferent. Definitely, the 2001-2003's. I think that the 97-00's may have different size bars based on gmpartsdirect.com since they listed the early years differently, although the price is exactly the same, thus my being unsure about the earlier years!

thanks, i'm sure it'll be easier to find the UMI arms, than a set of orig GXP's? Hopefully when i go to do my work, i'll be able to find what i'm looking for. Where can i buy a set of UMI's if i cant find a GMPP part?

You can get them straight from them.
    1997 - 2005 GM W-Body Tubular Rear Trailing Arms [3715] - $109.99 : UMI Performance, Inc.

You can find them on ebay once in awhile at a slight cheaper price.

is the quality the same between all these brands? or is it just a price/name brand difference?
