Having a little issue with a hum coming from the front end. Not sure if it could be tires, bearings or brakes. When I get up to about 30 mph I start to notice a hum coming from the front of the car. Not totally sure which side or if both. When driving if I turn to the right the noise stops but starts again once I straighten out. As I slow done the tone gets deeper and stops right before the car comes to a complete stop. Any thoughts???

I would have your tires re-balanced. If you take it a shop have them check the wheel bearings before they take the tires off. You'll save time and money! Which no one can afford to lose these days!

I noticed on the side that I believe has the bad wheel bearing that it had a lot more brake dust on the rim. Does anyone know if this is typical of a bad bearing or hints at another issue other than a wheel bearing.

alot more brake dust is probably your caliper bolts getting old and not traveling properly and causing your pads to scrub while driving....check your pads see if they are worn funny that could be causing the humming noise also....

I just checked out the pads and they appear to be pretty evenly warn. The rotor looks pretty rough but so does the other one. I just don't want to start replacing a bunch of stuff without knowing what the true cause is. I am planning on replacing the rotors regardless. Perhaps I'll starts with pads, rotors and the passenger caliper and see how that works. I checked for play in the suspected bearing but it seemed all good.

First get your tires rebalanced, if not that then my bet is on a hub. My car was doing the same exact thing and it was the hub.

i have seen some exploers with a bad front hub eat the brakes so bad on an angle that it ground the caliper bracket, so yea if the wheel bearing is bad, more brake dust is possible. im gonna keep an eye on my pass side hub because i do see a lil more dust, also had my trac off light come on and will not go off. bearing related???

The only thing sensor wise in the hub is the ABS, trac control is in the tranny/BBV mostly. I'm not sure about the trac light.

    Its your right wheel bearing...

wheel bearing hums will go away when u turn slightly into them.

So if it goes away when u turn right it's the right side bearing.

And foogie it's your left bearing.
