Unsolved droning noise
GrandPrix Junkie
06-28-2023
Y'all I'm at my wits end here trying to track down a droning noise from my right rear wheel. First I replaced the hub and got a new parking brake shoe (I have a GXP), then we got a new rotor, caliper & pads (I've been lucky enough to warranty replace most of these parts). Even went so far as removing the parking brake shoe today. Still have the noise. What am I missing here? Is the new hub bad? Is it the wheel and tire?

If you are 100% sure it's the right rear wheel, then I'd move it to the front as a test and see if the noise follows. Could be a tire issue. At what speed does the drone start up?

The noise starts around 40mph+ & it sounds just like a bad wheel hub, but with a catch. The noise is pulsing. That's new to me.

Sounds like it may be a tire then. I'd give em a flip and see if it follows. And make sure the tire pressures are correct.

We nvr did figure this out. Had to tolerate the drone from Wichita KS to Westcliffe CO & back. I'm gonna go out on a limb n guess it might be my ridiculous camber on 3 yr old tires. Idk n I don't care anymore. At least I got 24.7mpg's.
