I replaced my pads a few months ago with ceramic pads, within a couple weeks sometimes when I braked there was a scraping noise from left front wheel like metal on metal or ceramic on metal. Didn't do it every time, then all was good for a couple months. It started again, took it to my trusted mechanic and told him both wheel hubs had been replaced about a year earlier. He checked the torque on them and they(the driver side) were not at spec ( I think 117 lb. ft.) he tightened them and seemed to fix problem. Yesterday the same sound again after driving in city traffic after about an hour of freeway speed. Only did it once the whole 200 mile round trip. Would a sticking caliper cause this noise perhaps? I'm totaled baffled by it.

check the dust shield on the back of the rotor, sometimes you bend the end a little and it can touch the rotor. when you bend these things you dont notice it, remember you had it in your hand when you did the hub. so you did handle it some. always look at what you touched last.

Actually I didn't replace the hub personally, just the pads. I still can't understand why the dust shield would only contact the rotor every once in a while unless it was extremely loose, and my mechanic would have noticed that. What are the chances that axle nut could get loose again after only a couple hundred miles? I'm very perplexed to say the least, Ill look at the dust shield when I get a chance though. Thanks

the nut didnt come loose. mechanic may have bent it. its one of them thing that can just happen. you might have bent it when you took the caliper off. its one of them things you dont know how or why, its just is bent now lol

Check the clips for the pads. Doesn't take much for them to touch the rotor
