I have a 2002 Gtp. The car is 100% stock. A few years ago I retired it as a daily driver. The battery would die if I didn't start it every other day. I assumed it was a bad battery and replaced it, twice. So I've been looking for a draw on the battery. I checked the trunk light and all is well there. I decided to start looking at the Onstar system because I know that they will still exit sleep mode every ten minutes to try to connect with each the Onstar center. I'm not sure if the old analog systems do that or not.
I decided to pull the fuse and see what happened. The fuse is on the interior fuse box. According to the diagram that particular fuse only controls the Onstar. Pulled the fuse the car stated just fine several times. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and then reconnected and tried to start it, the car cranked hard. I tried several times and it cranked hard every time. I turned the car off, plugged the fuse back in. The lights dimmed significantly and the doors locked and unlocked by them selves. Started the car and it started just fine.
So does anyone know if there is anything else tied to the fuse for the Onstar. Is it typical for the old analog system to draw that much power?
I know the module is in the trunk and I considered unplugging that, but I was worried it would still try to pull power from the system.

Do you plan on using it in your car? If not yank it. Easy way to begin your troubleshooting and bonus of weight reduction.
