Alright everyone just looking for a quick answer here if anyone can help. My car has had an aftermarket stereo in it since I bought it, shortly after I bought the car I upgraded from the Dual brand system to a pioneer I had laying around... It sounded good and all but I wanted some of the features of a newer head unit. So I upgraded to a Pioneer DEH 2400UB. Not real fancy but It wall I needed and it sounds freakin' awesome. Sadly, I've having issues keeping it working. When I fist put it in it worked great, I only covered the wires in black tape, didn't use any solder or anything. One day it just stopped working, later on I discovered it would work when the headlights were on.. but then would eventually stop working again. I found out once again that if I unhooked the battery for a little but, it would work again for a little while, as long as the headlights were on. The length of time the battery had to be unhooked grew every time I tried it. Finally one day I pulled it out and my ground was wiggling a little bit loose, so I went ahead and tightened that back up, and did a little rewiring. It worked great all day that day. I came out the next morning.. radio wouldn't work, and I have not had it working since. I just pulled it back out and took the actual radio apart to check for anything that looked funny.. everything seems to check out. I have checked fuses and everything looks fine. I have just separated all the wires and am going to rewire it now. This is where I need help. I'm using one of those metra harness adapters. I will say the wires coming from the metra are about 16 gauge or so but not sure.. while the harness that came with pioneer radio is about 24 gauge.. Does this hurt anything? and there is no illumination (orange) wire on the Pioneer harness. Where should I wire my orange? I would think 12v switched would work right? Also there is a light blue wire with a white line on the Pioneer harness.. it is for the remote.. what do I wire that to? I had it wired to the amp (dark blue) previously and it worked fine.. but I was just wondering if that could cause an issue. Thanks for all help
