I'm working in installing an iPad mini into my dash. I know how I'm doing it and how to do it. but I don't want to make a mold out of fiber glass. is it possible for me to use pc7 epoxy to form the mold with mesh to help hold it together? It says online it hardens like plastic and is sandable. Will it hold up for a long time?

Here's the start of this project. Did some work with a dremel. I know it's sloppy, but now I need to fiberglass my iPad to the dash and use some pc7 epoxy to clean up all of the edges. That won't be for a few weeks. So here's there start!

I wonder if you could have found a Double DIN bezel that pad would fit nicely in.

Yep, I meant like the mount for Double DIN radios, not the cars bezel itself.

Obviously the mini would look more in place and not out of place like the original iPad looked. For a mold you could cover up the iPad (and I do mean cover up!) and fiberglass over the backside to get a mold of the backing and somewhere make a notch so that you could pop it in and out as needed. Would be plenty strong then sand/paint and mold it to the bezel.

Or find a case that will work and mold that into the bezel.

That's actually what I'm doing. Taping the whole iPad and then wrapping it in aluminum foil. Then I Wil fiberglass the back side of it!

Does anyone know what adapters I need to do what the guy did in his Yukon? I had planned on putting a Bluetooth stereo in the glove box and using the iPad through Bluetooth. But I would deffjnately rather just wore the iPad to a wiring harness with no stereo at all.

What year gp? If it's an 04+ the adapters he links to should work. Obviously you want the ipad cable instead of the cable for the Galaxy. If its a 97-03 you might be stuck doing the receiver in the glove box.

Oh **** sorry I was on my phone, and didn't realize he was the op lol. Then yes the adapters he linked in that thread will work for your gp as they use the same adapters.

Forgive my ignorance, but will the aluminum foil interfere with the wireless communication side of it?

Also, if you encase it in plastic wrap or other items, will it cool properly? I'm pretty sure the cooling is passive, not sure if there is a problem with putting what is essentially insulation around it.

Good luck with the project! Just trying to give you a few things to consider.
