Hey guys I have an 05 GTP without the Monsoon system. I'm looking at buying a PIONEER AVHX5600BHS and installing it myself. I've installed plenty of new head units in vehicles before, but never in a GM vehicle. I'm just wondering what wiring harnesses I need to maintain my vehicle chimes as well as the steering wheel controls. I don't really care about the On Star because I have never used it and never plan on it either. Thanks in advance for your help.

    What he said.

Radios are integrated with the BCM. There have been reports of problems with the security system without a module like the GMOS-01. It also makes it easier to install. There's no hacking of the factory harness, so if you want to put the factory radio back it, it's a matter of pulling out your modules and plugging the radio back in.

You'll also need a mounting bracket. This is the one you'll need if that new head unit is the double DIN radio I think it is.

BTW... you'll lose the date function of your DIC when you remove the factory radio.

Thanks for the info. I never use the date function anyways so that won't be a big deal, but it is nice to know that it will be unusable before I start doing is instead of finding out after I've done the install and thinking I did something wrong. I also forgot to mention that I have a Viper 5704 remote start/alarm system. Does that change anything or will it add complications to the install at all? Also, would you recommend one of the harnesses over the other for the steering wheel control, or are they both pretty much the same?
