Hey I recently purchased a Alpine type x 12" sub. I am building a slot ported box tuned to 32-35 hz. My question is, should I fire it forward, upwards or towards the truck? The "audio" guy I work with says forward. I'm just wondering what is the best experience ppl here have had in a 4 door gtp? Also anyone build any nice amp racks? I got 2 giant amps tht need to be tucked away nicely. PG RSD 1200.1 running the sub, PG RSD 500/4 running my mids. Both amps are 18" long.

    Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Ive tried facing my subs foward in both my 2000 and 2004 and it didnt sound nearly as good as backward. We have rather large trunks so they kind of add to the affect. Simply as trying out different methods and see what works for you.

Yea so far back firing sounds the best. Got it in a small box that was built to "spec" but in my opinion it needs a bigger box. Anyone on here ever have a type x 12? I'm thinking about making my box about 2 ft3. Any comments?

Forward is better, but only with the box as far back as it goes. Downside is it makes your trunk useless, but hey we have 4 doors for a reason.

I cant seem to find any pics at all of my 12 setup in the grand prix, here it is before the rebuild in my old 1g DSM.

This was my amp mounting, Ive never been very good at that ****.

yea that's what buddy said too. ill try both I guess once I got the new box made. still need amp rack ideas... I was thinking about mounting then in a "tray" on the box but not sure if they both would fit.

nice, that looks pretty clean like that... I was thinking about building something similar but then I would have to keep the current "small" box I think its 18"hx18"wx17"d. doesn't do this sub very well. only hit 136.7 db and that was on a burp at 46 hz... needs new box

I had a big single 12 setup for a few years, not sure how it relates to your SWX but it was a RE SX motor with upgraded soft parts and woven leads on 1k rms. I had it in a 2.5cu box ported to 30. The port was 3" wide and wrapped around 38.5" long. I ran it facing back and it was pretty ridiculous for a single 12". I mounted both amps on the back of the box though, so with the 28lb sub, 2 amps and the box itself the setup was around 150lbs. I couldnt unload it myself for trips to the track so i traded it for some paint work and downgraded to my current setup. As far as amp mounting I ran out of ideas there. I ended up just paying to have a nice clean panel done.

forgot to ask about the best way to fasten my rearview mirror to the windshield. I've used 2 of the repair kits they sell at Canadian tire but as soon as the bass hits the **** lets go.

Go to your local auto glass repair/replace center and ask them to reattach your mirror, they have better glue, will prolly warranty their work and cost about $10( price of tube of glue from auto parts store).

lol no room for anything in there. I am gonna need a box same size as that one tho . still open to suggestions on amp rack. I was thinking about stacking them upright side by side on a slider then put a fan over top.
