ok so here is what i want to do. im going to college next august so i want to get this done before im in debt for the rest of my life but i want to keep the stock head unit (so my car looks stock) but i want to still have my sub in the truck and also run the speakers that i plan on replacing with an amp as well. so i was wondering if this was possible while still achiving good to really good sound quality. any help tips or ideas would be greatly apprechited and if you guys need to know what i have for a sub ill let you know but i dont know the numbers on it with out looking.

The answer to sound quality,in my opinion....NO. Each person has their own idea of sound quality,i have heard stock decks with everything else aftermarket and it sounded like crap.

I have yet to hear a car with subs in the trunk that I would even consider close to sounding 'Quality'.

i use the alpine 9883 and love it. the only problem that some people have with it is that the pre-out voltage is only 2 volts. i use a maxxlink anyways so it is no problem for me. the new pioneer's ( the deh-6000 in perticular) are awesome. but, for the same price you can get a alpine with will always have more RMS power per channel. the crossover settings are better on the pioneers but the alpine's are easier to use for most people. i can go on and on about the differences between the 2. i would go and look and pioneer and alpine decks and decided which one you like better based on looks and then see if you like the features.

the answer is no, you cannot achieve good quality hooking up subs to a stock head unit...cant happen. Stock head units have anti distortion filters that essentially cut back the bass as the volume climbs...rendering subs useless. Highs will distort and overall sound will be muddy. Mostly because you will be using a line level inverter to step down the speakers power to a line level RCA. Its a terrible way to do things. Get a good deck installed, you will be 120% happier..Anything from pioneer, alpine, JVC you should like. Go for the mid to higher end units, never the bargain lower end ones. They suck.
