my 04 comp g did not come with a remote start option. It was offered in 2005 and later model years. I want to see if I can enable a remote start function by reprogramming the bcm. I will need to change/enter the vin during reprogramming, of a remote start equipped vehicle. Anyone care to offer one up, preferably from a 2005 model year?

I've compared the wiring diagrams for both equipped and non equipped models. except for the dic data line to the bcm they are identical. I know I will need fobs. There may be other unknowns I will run into; effect theft deterrent but I gotta know. Would be a cheap way to add the remote start.

Anyone tried swapping bcms to see if it would work?

Bcm are specific to the car itself so just swapping them wouldn't work. A dealer or I believe someone with a tech 2 can program it but I'm still not certain if the remote start will work.

Going through all that work you really are better off spending $100-200 on aftermarket remote start and installing yourself. Better overall, more options and will end up being way cheaper then the factory installed option.

also the Rear window had the extended range antenna. The OEM remote start might not have the range.

I tried to program my 04 GTP to an 05 for the OEM Nav via a Tech 2 and with out the dealer SPS it wouldn't accept the Programming..

IF you can do this by all means please do, the OEM Remote start would be the Icing on the cake

I do have access to the sps servers. My cost to do it would be for the new remote only. I'm gonna give it a shot.

for your nav; without connecting to the sps server all the tech2 can do is system set-up.

correct, it works but the HUD is 1.3 miles off when giving turn by turn directions. The 04 Guys that have swapped, all have said this. I think with the 05 BCM, it would be accurate on the HUD, plus I could add the Remote Start RPO.

Please update if you do get this working

did a part number search for the 04 vs 05 bcm. They are different part numbers so they may not be compatible. I'm still gonna try it.

I believe you can flash the BCM regardless of the Part Number

yeah but will it work when your flashing with programming meant for a different part?
