    cant tell which wiring harness to use my car has 8 speakers but doesnt look like bose.....is there a way to tell from the vin#?

    No Bose in 97, still has a small Delco amp near glove box. Not sure how the wire harness differs from the standard to the eight speaker set ups

    There is no harness adapter for the non bose 8 speaker system, you need to find what wire in the harness turns the amp on and hook the power turn on lead to it. Or just bypass the amp.
    Just buy the normal harness adapter for the 88-05 or whatever GM. This one http://www.walmart.com/ip/Scosche-Ge...r-GMDA/1863068 Even with that adapter you will not get sound out of your 6x9s unless you find a way to turn on the amp or bypass it.
