Not sure where exactly I went wrong before but this time I was able to connect the green/ orange wire to the blue one of my cars harness and I got it to work after manually programming the buttons a few times cause I kept forgetting to skip certain buttons. But at last (2years and 2months later) I finally can use my steering wheel controls.
