Has anyone ever done a double din in the W-body. I have a 2002 and the flip outs are getting fewer and fewer so I want to switch to a double din, but I don't know how to make it fit right.

I've got a flip out, and It's nice, but i don't think i'd ever get a double Din. Maybe that's just me...

There's a write up somewhere i believe on here on how to cut, and mold the dash to accommodate your double din deck.. Best one i've seen personally was a guy using a HB#2 Pencil for his cross bar between the stereo and the Hvac

I just don't like the reviews on the flip outs that are coming out now. There are alot better reviews on the double dins and more choices.

Flip out ones look corny and kinda cheap to me. I'd say push for a Double DIN.

I had a clarion vz401 that I loved but it didn't do what I needed so I sold it. The only flip out I like now is the new pioneer and the reviews say the screen sucks.

all you have to do it trim the dash panel a tiny bit to allow for clearance, then mount the unit using small L brackets or whatever you can figure out

So just a little trimming above the deck and a double din fits right in the stock location?

pretty much. if you do it like kuntzie make sure your unit doesnt need to flip down or up to access the cd slot. if it does then kuntzie's way will not work

How far up can you go before you start getting into the vents? I got a spare bezel on eBay so if I jack it up I am ok, but I'd rather not screw it up in the first place. I also got a double Din universal install kit, I'm hoping to use that to trim out the difference.
