So i had another forum on here to get some questions answers regarding 6x9 install.

I decided I didn't want the hassle of installing them myself so I brought it to future shop...big mistake.

They told me that an amp bypass was an extra 100 bucks so 150 just for install I said f*** that and the guy told me it would sound a lot better to hook them up with the monsoon amp non bypass. I agreed on this.

However when I pick up my car, I pay the bill test the speakers, work fine.

Wasn't until about half way after turning the subs up that they sound like complete s*** and are very quiet now. I'm guessing it has something to do with the way they wired the new speakers i have no idea what they did. You could barely even tell I had 2 12s in the back pushing 2000w. Now I have this huge mono block amp to push my subs and they dont even work good. It sounds horrible.

What should I do? I don't want to bring it back because these guys clearly are retarded. I just want my bass back! Also to ad to all that bulls*** now i have a constant hum in my right rear!

They might have turned your amp down when they installed the speakers and forgot to turn it back up.
For the humming, give this a try. http://www.grandprixforums.net/feedb...ems-17284.html

I checked the gain on my amp for the subs and it was the same. bass boost level the same. Everything was left i think. All i know is my system sounds horrible now.

Could this be because they didnt bypass the factory amp? Anyone?

I wired the subs myself and they are directly to the head unit with rcas, then the subs are wired to the amp, amp is powered from bat.

Nothing has changed in the sub/HU set up which leads me to believe some wires they tapped into or something for the rear speaker install f****d my bass

i know they said with monsoon it sends out 4 wire signals per speaker, for bass to speakers and mids or whatever. So they must have tapped into the bass line or something since they didnt bypass the amp...so many frustrations!!

never going back there again! what was suppose to be an easy install by them by not doing it myself i got screwed over now with many more problems.

and trust me there is a HUGE difference in the sound coming from the subs, they are very quiet now. Almost no point in having subs if thats all they got!

If your subs are wired directly from the head unit with RCA's, then they shouldn't have touched anything to so with the subs unless they were adding in another amp and splitting the signal. Did you check your head unit settings to see if the messed with the sub output on there. Most car audio places will turn the sub level down on there so they can hear the other speakers better and also so they don't mess up your amp settings. Try looking on there first and if not then looks like you will have to rip your car apart and figure out exactly how they hooked up the new speakers.

i checked setting on amp, head unit, checked wiring from amp physically to subs all looks the same. Only difference now is the sound terrible and quiet. Although if you turn the hu up loud u can def tell they are there, but sound terrible. Not throwing good clean bass anymore. Its hard to explain kind of thumping a little bit and not 'loud' at all. Ground from the amp is grounded to chasis wasn't touched either so thats good. If anyone knows about the monsoon system and how shops like best buy or future shop would wire the speakers without bypassing, is it possible they tapped into a signal affecting something?

Yeah thats a tough one to figure out without knowing exactly what they did to it or actually seeing it. Time to rip out the monsoon! Seriously tho if you just got two new good speakers then just get two for the front and a 4 channel amp and you will be so happy with it.

I still feel like you need to take your car back and let them correct whatever they ****ed up. You paid them to do something and left with the car not doing what it was doing prior. Let them fix it you shouldn't be on here having to guess what was changed or happened.

just my .02 cents when i had a couple estimates on a full sound system done 3 of the 4 places i went to said the best thing to do is remove the stock monsoon amp. they said itll cause more problems in the long run and that it was complete ****

Now if they can't figure it out that's when you get your money back and then you hit up the forums. There's is 0 reason why u should be busting your head trying to figure it out at this point you gave them money they need to be given the opportunity to rectify the situation first. Rather if they're useless or not.

The stock monsoon system can only give you so much. I tried to do what I can to keep the stock amp and have better aftermarket speakers but at the end of the day I still wasn't happy. The best thing I did was cut the entire monsoon system and go complexly aftermarket. I have a 4 chan Memphis marine amp running my speakers and then a separate amp dedicated for my subs and of course a aftermarket HU. The price you paid for them to do whatever they did you could of purchased a new or used 4 chan amp with that and had better sounding speakers and avoided this situation.

ya your right I think the best thing would have been to go with a 4 channel amp, and new speakers but all i was trying to do was replace my rears because one had blown.

I think I found the problem. I think they took the sub box out obviously to install the speakers and when the put them back in the rewired the terminals wrong (positive to negative) on one sub. I rewired them and I think they are back and working good now. They are loud now. Maybe only one sub was on? Im not sure. Glad I figured that out something that simple I couldn;t beleive they would miss something as stupid as that.

Which brings me to my other problem of the buzzing in one of my rears. I will be going back next weekend for them to trouble shoot it most likely. I already did that grounding thing from the other forum. Before the install i had zero buzz (possibly very very slighlty if u turned everything down and listened). But now its very noticable even when the musics up.

any advice on the buzzing? note i did have to ground the HU to the rcas behind the dash to get rid of alt noise using gmos 04. i hate the gmos 04 had a lot of problems with it. Ive read a ton on this issue and it always leads to grounds but i have been through that already. My system was buz free but after the rear speaker install the buzz is back. I wanna try some stuff before bringing it back possibly ground loop isolator.

some info: i grounded the rcas from my subbs at the HU to the HU itself and that helped (im talking about a year ago) that is all i did. After this i then turned down the potentiometer down in the gmos 04 adapter and that got rid of the rest of whine/buzzing.

fast forward i get new rears installed and buz is back!
