So first things first the car is not over heating, I recently changed the ect sensor and for some reason the gauge on the dash has been stuck on high. Which makes no sense because coolant is flowing, I tried unplugging the battery for one hour and still nothing the gauge is just stuck all the way up and i cant figure out how to make it go down. please let me know if anyone has heard of this. and let me know if any more info is needed thanks!

why did you change the ect to fix the gauge?

how to the wires look to the plug. its a short harness, so check the plug on the other side as well for damage, (plugs in by the right side dog bone) or corroded plugs. these plugs and its wires get to bake in the cross overs heat all day long, so over the years, the insulation can come off and kill the wires.

If the gauge is stuck on high a wire from the sensor is grounded out.

Its actually an old trick people use to check if a gauge is bad, or if its the sensor.

Just and hour ago I had to change my ECT sensor becuase it was making the gauge in the dash "top oout" at 260+, when my scanner was reading a correct engine temp at 199 degrees, I visuall checked the engine to make sure it was not really overheating, it was ok. The sensor was only 3.5 years old and was installed when I had the intake out to change the LIM gaskets. I was upset it lasted so short time. Picked up a new sensor at ORIElly Auto PArts, for $20 and installed it, #BWD WT 3024. The nice thing is now my temp gauge seems to be more accuerate to the acctual temp of the engine.
