So if I just wanted to drill through the firewall where would be the best place to drill to avoid missing wires, etc.

the area i drilled, under the windshield was wire free, but i still only let the tip of the drill bit go through. its also a dry area, no water gets under there.

Also I was unable to get the wire through either groment. I'd honestly be surprised if I could get my signal wire through the one. I think my best bet is to just drill through the firewall.

I'll check again but I'm pretty sure. All the wires leading there form a big bunch that completely fill some sort of tubing they are being fed through

    Matt...

Before you drill. pull back the carpet at the passengerside floor. Find the big square grommet thing I'm talking about. Now take a flathead and pry at the lines that you see in it. It's techincally just pushed in there. Once you have the 3/4" this piece out of the way, put your wire through the thin boot that's on the outside (a slice with a razor knife should work) then position the wire reasonably and push that piece you pulled out ....back into place and cut if needed.

I've drilled through that piece, I've cut it ..I've pulled it out and stuffed it back in ... all work. I was trying to keep you with the best method.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
