My 01 has the factory alarm. I've recently started listening to make sure the doors actually look when I leave the vehicle. I don't use the remote anymore since they always break off the keychain. So when I exit the car I hit the lock button. It makes the "ding ding ding" noise to let you know it's ready to lock. But here's the weird part... it never fires the actual locks. It arms the system, but never locks the doors? So when I go back to it I pull the handle and set off the alarm. Then I have to dig out my remote to kill it. However I can sit in the car for 10 minutes straight and hit the lock/unlock switch and they work every time. So the locks themselves work fine. It's almost like a software glitch in the module. This is recent and I have only had it happen twice now. Anyone else experience this?

Just double hit the button when you get out.

That's how I did it and my sister does it in her's because her fob isn't on her keychain anymore.

Yeah that's probably what I will do. Maybe I'll try to rig up something so I can use my remote without fear of losing it.

I'd try reprogramming security modes first before anything else. All procedures start at page 2-14 in your owner's manual. If you don't have one, then google it and there's a free pdf.

If reprogramming doesn't work, It's going to be your theft-module. And those have to be programmed at your stealership....
