Ok so Just bought a 2006 GXP that was totaled for parts. I also have a 2006 gxp but mine has the standard monsoon stereo. This one however has the touch screen navigation radio from GM and I would like to swap them out. Any chance it's just a plug and play or is this going to be more involved than it's worth?? Even if the nav doesn't work for a while im fine with that. It would just be really cool to have this radio in!
Same year and everything with these cars... so it shouldn't be a problem right?

you have to get the radio programmed at the dealer to remove the theftlock, and turn on the US4 RPO code. It will cost you about a 1 hr of shop labor rate so plan on about $100 bucks to get it programmed....

So it won't work until i do that first? That's not so bad i guess. It won't hurt anything by putting it in will it? When you say anti theft, does that mean my alarm could go off or something?

No the radio itself is theftlocked. It will not hurt your car, but the radio will not work until a dealer unlocks it. If you know anyone with a tech2 scanner, they can do it.

If you want the NAV part of the radio to work you will also need the Nav antenna from your donor car and install into the other car.

Where does that run from? I noticed an extra plug.. is it the same as radio antenna or is it way difference like a 4 pin plug? And where does it go to? Inside the car or outside..

The navigation compass module sits on the rear speaker shelf, just about 3 inches towards the drivers side. I'm not sure if there were any other parts for the nav to work on the touch screens.

There may also be a factory XM unit you can check for on the donor car. The antenna on the back of the roof runs all over the place, and has a few componants. I only know that because I started grabbing one once, and gave up. You may want to see if you can even have it activated before you get into all that.

The unit should be plug and play minus the vin change, they started that in 04 for Grand Prixs, the older ones can be unlocked without a dealer.

Look at what those touch screens go for on e-bay. It may make you re-consider the install, and upgrade to a better unit.

I just really like all the features that it has with the mph display and the graph for the G's. Just kind of cool
