I bought a used 1999 grand prix gtp, and i believe there is a pre installed security system but i didn't recieve any FOB's with the car. What is the cheapest way to get new FOB's and to go about having them work with my car? I do not know much about cars, but can read directions. The manual says to go to the dealership, but I know that can get very expensive. Any help would be great! Thank you!

Thanks for the link. So now my only prob is if i have a security system. On the dash Ihave a red light that blinks when a door is opened, does that mean it has one?

I think they all came with one. So pretty sure ya do. But it shouldn't pose a problem as far as the car running and driving UNLESS you don't have the chipped key when you're supposed to.

    Yes, you have one.

Read the owners manual for getting the key fob to work with the car, its a very simple process.

Or search on here for the install instructions.

Buy from ebay or where ever, it just has to a 97-00 style remote, the 01+ remotes are different. So just search your year.

being a 99 i doubt it has a factor security system. the key fob just opens/locks the doors and pops the trunk.

you can always call a dealership with your vin and ask them to run it see if it has a factory system or not.

Just fyi to the OP, I had a bad experience with ebay fobs which is why I really recommend the website I linked you to. It's a toss up on ebay.

Thanks for all the help. I believe that I have the correct key, I have no starting problem or other issues with the car. I really love it! I'm pretty sure that it is installed because I have all of the other (if equipped) options in my car. Thanks again. Wait, one more thing.... the cd changer in the trunk is missing the cassete, any cheap replacement options for it?

turn the cd changer into a aux port for the radio, i pod, XM radio, and so on.

well if you have a cd/dvd in dash flip screen the the stock cd changer in the trunk no longer works anyway, it was controlled by the factory radio.
