So the wiring for the stock head unit has two plugs with abunch of different wires. The one that came with my head unit is smaller and has way less wires. Instead of cutting off the factory plugs and trying to crimp all the matching wires together, isnt there an adaptor i can buy that will just plug the factory plugs into the new head unit or something? Ive looked all over and cannot find an answer. I dont care about steering wheel controls either as the volume is the only one id use but i never have that hand on the wheel.

do you have the monsoon sound system? if so then you need a different harness that is more expensive.

someone else might be able to chime in but i thought if you had steering wheel controls then you had the monsoon. but in order to retain all the factory things like chimes and onstar you need a harness like this. Metra GMOS-01 GM Factory Integration Adapter Retains OnStar® and factory door chime with aftermarket radio in select GM vehicles at Crutchfield.com

when i did mine the only one i found that worked good was the gmos-01. somethings just arent cheap. i tried a 20 dollar one but it messed sh*t up. dic started messing up and gauges went crazy. radio worked though but i took it out the same day i put it in. so they aint that cheap for one tha works

if you just want the plug with marked wires telling you what they are for so you dont have to hack up the factory harness and plug. the best buy pig tail will work. i paid about 20 for one. for another car. you will lose you wheel controls. but you dont seem to care so much, so thats the way id go.

Well guys it doesnt ****ing fit. For some reason my 2000 GM vehicle doesnt qualify as a 1994-2004 GM vehicle, and the metra adapter does not fit into the factory plug, and im pissed off to the max after an hour of crimping with bent crimps and a wasted 30 dollars. (adapter plus crimp)
