I would like 2 subs in the trunk w/ a box.
I do have monsoon with an touch JVC unit.
Not sure if i my back speakers would work with and aftermarket amp...
Could i run 2 amps? 1 amp just for subs. Any suggestions?

To summarize i would like suggestions for these:
    Nice box for 04+'s
    12" subs
    amp

    Budget is 0$-800$

If you have monsoon I wouldnt bother replacing it with a 4ch.. its already a 500watt amp if I remember correctly.

Sub amp should be easy since you already have a jvc headunit. Just run a set of rcas.

Your Monsoon amp is a whopping 270 watts of total power for 9 speakers. Your JVC HU is probably more powerful without an amp, so yes I would replace the Monsoon amp with a better quality 4 channel and separate mono block amp for the sub, of course along with all new speakers all around. You will be more satisfied in the long run, trust me I have already done this.

Wrong. Any aftermarket cd player is around 15-20 watt rms. 50 watt peak is usally what you see.

I know the trans am monsoon amps were 500 watts. im not sure exactly on the 04+ though 270 seems a little low considering the amps are similar in size.

Besides monsoon vehicles have a center dash speaker powered by the amp

ok gm claims there is different ratings but the monsoon only powers the sub stage, tweeters are ran from the deck. All monsoon amps if you open them up there idendical boards so all there ratings seem sqewed to me. Since you have a after market run your rca's to just your amps and speakers you want to amp. i left my center channel on the rear amp. .
budget , you wanna save alot or be near that 800$? i can make a couple list up easily. In your budget you can find a nice setup

The monsoon amp powers every speaker in the car what the hell are you talking about... im looking at a diagram right now

Also saying a monsoon speaker is cheap paper is like saying a bose speaker is cheap. There is plenty of engineering that goes into a monsoon or bose system. Doesnt matter what they are made of.

Majority of aftermarket **** wont sound nearly as good because most people cheap out on buying quality aftermarket equipment. But good luck on that

Btw our shop specializes in factory sound.

All the speakers are powered by the amp. Period.

I guess im at a lose to what point your even trying to prove.

The amp gets the input signals from the radio. The amp then turns signal into the proper outputs..

    Thanks for the replies.
Why not 2 subs? Should i just run 1?
Im looking for a decently loud system w/ bass.
Im not really on a budget, but i dont want to OD it or cheap out.
For those of you gen 7 monsoon guys... what are you running?

depends on your goals. But 2 subs= more weight, more money, more space

EDIT- assuming the same size sub of course.

I left my Monsoon alone and added a single Type-X Alpine 12" in a slotted port box. Powered by an alpine pdx m6. Its loud enough for me. One can always go further with the highs but ive got a 4yr old and have been tempted lately to sell it just because the sub turned off majority of the time anyways. Im getting old I suppose.

If your looking for a good sound system then scrap the Monsoon all together... replace the front doors with components, center speaker, and the two rear 6x9's( you could do 6x9 components too if you are feeling optimistic), then get a 4 or 5 channel amp to run the speakers and then either 1 or 2 subs with a mono amp... it will be 10x better then the stock system believe me.

Polk, MB Quart, Infinity, Rockford are all good and decently priced... people will go back and forth for ever on which brands are best.. it is all up to you and what you think sounds better imo... i have heard some good and bad systems with all the top brands..
04 Top-swapped, 3.2 pulley, ZZP 1.9 rockers w/ #90 springs,Mild P&P heads, Pacesetter Headers, Sseilmnop 2" Phenolic Intercooler with stage 3 HE, ZZP billet fuel rails, 42.5lb injectors, 3" full exhaust, all poly mounts, other supporting mods.
oh and weight addition mods: CTS-V brake upgrade, 14" GT500 rotors

It's best to avoid the prefabbed boxes and have a box made but a local audio store to the specs of the subs. Shouldn't cost much more than what that box on eBay is selling for if not less and will sound 10x better.

very much agreed also look into birch its more expensive but alot lighter and sounds alot better, and if you get a custom built box have all corners 45ed
