Alright. The Failstar has a factory 12" woofer in the rear deck. As with about any Bose car audio it's not that great. I plan on replacing it. Obviously I'd need an IB/free air woofer. Any suggestions?

The only one I found for a decent price is this Fi.

As said before I'm open to suggestions but need to keep it around the 500RMS mark.

so your trunk is 332 litres in size or larger and you never intend on putting anything in there?

That's kind of contradicting. Im gonna put a new woofer in the stock location to avoid taking up extra room. Also will appear more stock

    Hows it "contradicting"?

I'm asking if you have the available space for an IB subwoofer and if you intend on letting the subwoofer have that space all of the time.

Otherwise, get a slim 12" that fits in a small box and attach the small box to the bottom of the speaker in the stock location.

Otherwise your sound will change based on what you have in the trunk that day.

Up to you what you want to accomplish.

The point is that free air is dumb in a car.

The leaks between the trunk and the cabin will kill a lot of your output.

What you have in the trunk that day will affect how it sounds.

Maybe I can do a Type R shallow mount. And make a box the length of the deck instead of having a long depth like a normal box

I think i'm gonna go with the Fi. Lots of people seem to like it. Appears to be one of the better IB subs out, especially for the price.(others are as high as $450)

Now I just need to figure out how to brace the rear deck for those 32 lbs.

its not the 32 lbs that should concern you, its that cone moving at 30 hz moving a total of 60 mm or ~2.4 inches.
