Ok, so I bought the car with factory steering wheel controls, factory satellite radio, monsoon system.
Right now I have my aftermarket HU in from my first Grand Prix with none of that and it doesnt support the satellite radio.
I want the satellite radio, and I want my steering wheel controls, so I decided Im going to redo this.
Im purchasing the Kenwood KDC-452u. I want to retain the steering wheel controls and factory satellite, and factory amp, so from my research I've found that the Metra GMOS-100 adapter is my best bet. It retains all of that plus chimes, RAP, and other crap.
Where Im stuck and unsure is that Metra, the manufacturer says it will work on the 2004-2008 Grand Prix for all it is advertised to do. However, Crutchfield tells me it will not work with the Grand Prix. I spoke to techs on both sides of the arguement, and each one only tells me what I already know. "Our database says this, but we cannot comment on theirs or why they say that."
So my main question is, does anyone use the gmos-100 and have steering controls/factory amp/satellite radio?
Secondary question.... Im reading from some sources that with the gmos-100 and using the factory satellite tuner, I will have no readout on the HU of channel or song info. I've seen I would need to buy a secondary screen, almost like a second DIC just to display sat info. or an aftermarket satellite tuner in order to see the info on the aftermarket HU. Anybody know about this?
