Hey everyone, I'm the new guy here. I have a question about wiring up a new HU. I have an Alpine CDA-D852 (yeah I know, old but it was awesome in my old pickup and it was my uncle's, so I hate to give it up), and I've got all the other wiring figured out, except for one. My GTP has the steering wheel audio controls as well as the HUD. I don't want to lose either (well, I wouldn't mind the HUD) so I'm trying to figure out where I can stick the dark blue wire on the back of the head unit. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

    Dark blue?

You can retain the steering controls via an add on box. Axxess makes a pretty good little unit that is inexpensive and works well.

Dark blue sounds like the power antenna wire. Since you don't have that, I'd just tape the end and tuck away. Unfortunately, you will lose the radio display in the HUD, but you won't notice it missing after a couple days.

You will be able to retain steering wheel controls if your HU is steering wheel control compatible, or if your HU has a remote control you could probably use the PAC SWI-X to control the HU. If your HU doesn't have a remote then you will not be able to retain your steering wheel controls
