Hey everyone i have a 2005 grand prix gxp with the monsoon system. I have replaced my front speakers and rear 6x9's and my 2DIN HeadDeck and box and amp is on the way. Is there a way to just take out the amp in my trunk that is factory and replace it with the one i have ordered have no problems?? Or is there something in particular i have to do with the wiring of the amp and such so i dont screw anything up. Im also wondering what tools or things i need to replace my HeadUnit. Ive read some things that i need to buy this GM100 thing
that they have for $200.00 about but not wanting to do that if i dont have to. Im kind of new to the audio subject so id like to ask some people that have done this before Thank you guys!

PS. I figured i need these so i have these on the checklist
    Metra Electronics 40-GM10
    Metra Electronics 95-3527

for the HU, you need a screw driver lol

also go to Pac-audio.com and look up what wiring adapter you need.

or Metra makes a cheaper version.

    Then ebay for best deal.

Upgrading HU in 04+ is ALWAYS more expensive then 97-03, so don't be shocked if it costs $100+ on the wiring harness adapter.

LOL! a screwdriver funny guy :P I have looked on pac-audio and there are so many options of different things i can get but kinda confused on which one i really need. For example there are ones for just bluetooth, ipod, aux, steering wheel interface, etc.. Little bit more help? if possible?

No there is not a diagram for the amp wiring in the trunk or anywhere in the car. I have a bad feeling i might need to purchase this GMOS-100 GM Factory Integration Adapter? Id really like to find something cheaper if possible

Ok if you have steering wheel controls and want to keep them, you need that adapter.

you need to leave the monsoon amp unless you completely rewire half the car.. so get the adapter that allows you to add a stereo, retain chimes, monsoon. if you have on star and want to keep it.. need to have that..

Im thinking with all that that gm100 thingy is the the pac version you need. Metra's are cheaper and work just as good.

Ok. Couple more question. I have installed my 6x9's and for some reason the bass is the only thing that works it seems like. Will that change when i hook those up to my new amp that is on the way? or do i HAVE to have the monsoon amp connected to my front and rear speakers?

I have also found this http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120GMOS...r.html?tp=3486
Is that the correct adapter i should order?

im not sure, i really dislike monsoon system.

when i did my system i needed the gmos04 or something.. kept on star functionality, and chimes, cuz thats all i had..

the Metra website i find has some better configuration choices. I was able to find my wiring harness for $60 locally.. so keep CL in mind when looking, sometimes people are selling stuffs.
