alright soo as most of you are, im in love with Chamilton89's Trunk Lid Speaker Install. For those of you who havent seen it, heres the link, check it out. http://www.grandprixforums.net/trunk...all-47509.html

Now i want to copy him, with a twist. the plexi glass is awesome but i have no idea where i would etch it like he did and i dont know what i would put there, so my original idea was to put nothing and just leave a blank area there, but the more i thought about it, i came up with an idea, what if i were to put a small tv, or a small computer monitor in the middle. i have a dvd head unit with a video out spot on the back so i could use the video out to a video in, im just not sure how i would power it to make it seem so clean

    any comments or ideas?

    It would be ricerific!

Maybe you could get an LED Type R badge and some underglow to bring it all together.

i dont agree with this, we have raceways for a reason. and if your spending time with your trunk open i would expect you to get in trouble for loitering.

If you have to ask yourself whether or not it's a bad idea, it's a bad idea.

It can easily be done. Especially since you already have a video source output on your HU. If you went with a 12v monitor, you'd power it the same way you would an amp. If you went with an actual 120v monitor you'd need a power inverter and probably stronger actuators to support the weight.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

Depending on what monitor you get, you just need a switched 12v, constant 12v, ground and a video cable. If you already have an amp back there, the you can connect to that. You'll just have to run the video cable.

Idea seems neat, but pointless. Sure if you tailgate a bunch, or **** like that (I used to in highschool quite a bit at games and such)

The other thing is, you'd have to get a tough ass tv/monitor to handle all the bumps and the intense vibrations from your 12s. Otherwise, I can see you easily breaking internal components

Possibly, but I don't see how you would cancel enough of the vibrations from getting through into the monitor. Only thing I can think of would be a super dense, squishy foam between the trunk lid and the monitor to absorb as much as possible.

You had a car with a tailgate? Was it an El Camino, Ute or Ranchero?
