You might want to try some thread lock or even put a thin rubber coat over the metal button before sliding the mirror on (duct tape works well for this if you have nothing else). If it's the inside of the mirror making the noise then you may want to consider a non-dimming or even a billet mirror- unless your willing to open it up and lock everything down.

it is inside the mirror itself..I'm thinking the compass part inside. I'll try to open it and see what I can find.
