So, I'm thinking about selling my subs to downsize to one 10" subwoofer installed in my right rear quarter area. I currently have two JL 12w6v2's and a JL 1000/1v2. I would like to use the 1000/1 on my new sub. So far, I've looked into the Image Dynamics IDMAX 10 v.3 but haven't found much else that will support the power if I want to turn it up. I like the clean bass of the JL's, but the weight and lack of trunk space are killing me. Any suggestions?

Alpine type R's for sure. A 15 inch needs a 4 inch ported box though. So a 10 would probably need a 2 inch

Looking to go sealed. Tired of not having my trunk space.

You can put ports in the side of a box too. So it only needs to fit width and depth, and not have the extra space taken up on the side. As for sealed though, I can't help you. I'm a super strong believer in ports.

The only reason I want a sealed enclosure is for space savings. Any ideas on 10" subs capable of handling 1000w continuous and capable of living in a relatively small enclosure?

Fi Audio makes some solid subs that can handle a ton of power, an SSD is about $200-$250 depending on the options you pick, but it will get loud and stay clean.

    https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...iew.shopscript

The Q is a step up, the price reflects that, but after hearing one in a properly built sealed enclosure with about 1800W, I have to admit that I haven't heard a cleaner sounding sub get that loud in person since.

Then again I've also never heard the DC or the Sundown in person.

Not tryin to bag on you Kolton, Alpine is a very reputable brand that makes quality subwoofers, but after finding smaller companies like these^ I find it hard to justify the price tag of any Alpine, Rockford, Kicker, etc.

Stupid thing is that I still don't have money for my new build due to car repairs/upgrades and bills, so I actually own two Rockford P3's, the newer ones with the aluminum cone. They're loud and pretty accurate, but meh...

No biggie man I know their prices are way too high. I just usually tell people the names of companies they know, the small companies are the winners. It's really the same product but for a real, and reasonable price. I got my Polk Audio db 212-2's before I did much research into lesser known brands, and I assure you, I will be going with one of the small companies when/if my db 212-2's ever die.

Cadence is another brand to look into. Had a pair of their ~1996 UltraDrive series that were rated at 300Wrms each that took quite a pounding and are still kickin in a friend's car. My next sub will probably be from their S2 series.

AudioQue is no more is SQ... personally can't say i'd ever run AQ/SQ again, they have a sound to them i just don't like, with that said i do respect the HDC4 just for the money wouldn't ever run it. I like my Sundown, the SA-12s took everything i could throw at them. 4kw on a sub for 3 min (clipping) and still lived, the only weak spot I've found was when i had them in the NightShade box that has wayy to much port for SA's and ripped a surround.

If you like JL, why not get the 10w6..... you should be able to sell both 12's and get one. Or a 10w3 if you dont want as much. I am a JL guy, so I say stick with it.

skar is another good brand. They have a new line coming out good for 1500w. Would be just fine on 1000w and would still have room for more power if you ever wanted to use a bigger amp.

It's not that I don't like JL...I've been using JL for the past 10 years. The problem is I have a 1000/1v2 that I don't want to get rid of because of its flexibility and how well it works, but I want to downsize for weight and space savings while still having the thump and sound quality I'm used to...if not more.

So far, I'm really liking the Fi Audio SSD10 for its ability to fit in a tiny enclosure while being loud and clear, and I can customize little things about it. Please keep the suggestions coming! I had no idea a lot of these companies existed.

AQ is all about the SPL, the SQ sucks, I'd love L3's due to them being SQ and SPL and they can be abused if you wanted to put them through hell :3

I was on the right, clipped them to death that day, had to send them in for a recone.

Hmmmm... small enclosure, plenty of trunk space. You could run 2 8" subs ported on that 1000/1 and have some serious thump in a seriously small package. Look into the Sundown SA-8 and the Skar vvx-8. If you want one 10", there are plenty of subs that can take that 1k without breaking a sweat. The sundown SA-10 and Skar vvx-10 are two choices that have already been mentioned, and are proven performers. There's also the Sundown Zv3 10, but I doubt you're looking for anything that monstrous. Besides, that 1k would just tickle it lol.
