Hey there folks, been having issues with my car for about 2 years now off and on, and now it's constant. I want to say that none of these pictures are from my car, and are close approximations(very close).
About 2 years ago, I noticed my radio and CD player were dropping the bass channel occasionally. In the attached picture, the green circled area is where I would press with my thumb to fix the problem. I'd press somewhere around there, depending on if it worked or not, and the bass would return. Sometimes it was the same spot, sometimes it was 1/2 an inch to the side, etc. Over time, it took more and more pressure to fix the issue, and going over a bump would cause the bass to drop out again.(Continues after picture...)

For the last 6 months, there's been no bass at all, and a new problem started. Picture very closely resembles my blower control, except mine has numbers instead of white marks(bottom left of picture), and I have 5 on speeds instead of 4.

My blower has Off, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. It stopped working on Off - 4, and now only works on 5. I can put it on 5, and it blows air at the rate it normally would if I had it set to 5.

I'm kind of scratching my head on this one, I'm guessing possibly there is a short in the wiring in this area. I talked it around with a few folks, and they suggest I remove my dash and take a look myself... but I don't have the best idea what I'm really looking for.

So now I come to you. What are your thoughts on this, and what would you recommend I do first? I can provide pictures of everything I do, it might not be instant because it's crap weather out, but I will try to keep updated with as good information I can.

Could you pretend that I have very little grasp of the core concepts of everything you just said?

No no, everything in mine is stock, the pictures were closest approximations. My setup is very close to the top part of the first picture mixed with the climate controls of the second(not exact but close). Actually ill just throw a pic up if you want...

Good reason to go ahead and get an aftermarket headunit... and a blower motor resistor lol.
