But the reliability wasn't there for me. However, the JL ZR components, I will back those up all day.
JL ZR components are nice... Focal... meh. For Focal money, CDT and Hybrid Audio are KILLING it right now.

Ive never heard CDT or Hybrid, I left the install world about 5 yrs ago. But I've never heard anything like the Focal Utopia BE's. Granted they were 3k per set.

Lol, can't say I've heard those in person. I'd really like to hear the Critical Mass EL set... there's an INSANE non-refundable deposit, then they drive their 300C to you for you to hear it. STUPID expensive.

While that's an extreme example, American Bass amps are VERY respected. The VFL series, from the 100.1 to the 1100.1, are well known for producing gobs of power. The XFL line of subwoofers is known to produce great results, as are the higher lines. If you see JL in the comps "beating beyond belief" and then refer to American Bass as cheap junk... well, I respectfully disagree.
i love when people see peak power or how much a amp "puts-out" as a source of it beings good.....i hear the vfl sub can produce good spl but not sq and IMO SQ is what audio is all about......the vfl amp is a beast but for that money i can get better that will put out cleaner power with a better THD rating then .1%.....not trying to be a dick again just my 2 cents we all have opinions ur obviously a SPL lover

I am not going to lie i was kinda iffy on them until recently when i was at Spring break nationals, and got a chance to sit in Serious Auto Sports Tahoe... He was running JLW.7, and they sounded great but they are way to expensive. As far as the kickers go, I personally have yet to here a setup that I have liked, and i have heard quite a few setups. Honestly like it was mentioned above for the price your going to pay for decent kickers there are so many other better brands in my opinion. As far as them getting loud I would agree until you go to a show or really start to get into car audio. When you see the big boys, such as the boys at spring break nationals I honestly do not recall any competing cars running kickers. They do however make very good amps, but once again they are to expensive for what they are.

SPL? Meh... depends on in what sense you mean. I'm not a fan of the one-note wonders (burp vehicles).... I like daily groundpounding from the subsonic-to-40hz range. As far as SQ... Zuki amps all of the way. I also don't think you're being a dick... this is simply a discussion of different opinions. That's what makes forums worth reading.

At this current time I am running two older 10w0's they give a nice clean bass.

However JL 10w3's may be next.

Nope... wouldn't pay for it even if I did. For 3k on a 3-way component set, I could take the time to study proper imaging etc. etc. etc. and construct an active system using raw drivers and be plenty happy. While I'm sure they're nice, that's just too much money in my opinion... especially since the sound of them is going to be very highly based upon the actual install.

You're blocking your only way for the sound/bass to get into the cabin other than thru the rear deck.... move your subs closer to the trunk lid.... about 6 inches away from the back of the trunk. You'll have much better results I promise.

I have also heard that the utopia set sounds amazing, but if your going to throw out brands for components you cant forget hertz, Audison, DLS,Morel and rainbow. Now lets come back down to earth lol on the prices. Good budget components would be Image dynamics cxs, Hybrid audio(HAT) imagines, infinity kappa perfect, DLS, and also heard great things about crescendo. Honestly this could be a whole new thread lol so lets not jack this one about it :-P

Sadly, I don't think Crescendo is producing the component sets anymore... just pro audio mids and supertweeters. The new Concerto amps are sweeeeeet though.

There new sets of components come out soon actually already got the pricing They have 2 new sets coming the CCX direct replacement for CZ and the Mezzos which are to compete with hertz and other high end brands at a fraction of the price. I am actually in the process of saving up for the bc2000.

Good to know... I know the last set was very sought-after. I honestly kind of miss the old amps... I'm one of the few that liked the old-school all-gold look. The new ones are sweet too though... especially since the middle piece can be removed and painted to match our cars

Ya i love the look of the new amps, and for the price... You just cant beat it, especially since AQ up the prices on there amps . Good to know about the middle plate might do that if i get bored of how sexy it already looks.
