so it seems to me that a few people on here including me are having trouble with their fog lights intermittently not working. weather they have hid lights or not. So has anyone fixed this, found whats causing this or not? its pissing me off. every time i go to check it, they happen to be working again.

So I found the problem, what caused it was the relay harness the fuse on the harness had one side of the plastic that holds the fuse was melted. Don't know why exactly but guessing its because it's a cheap relay harness. I removed the relay harness and fogs are working again. Also no more problem with only one of them coming off.

That's why it's always best to use a relay to isolate the load from the stock wiring...
If you're having this problem and don't have a relay in, try putting it in and see if problem continues.

I forgot to mention that yes I do have a relay harness. I had this problem before, I added te relay harness, it went away for about a month and now it's back. It seems like they tend to work more often when it's warm outside.

But no one has ever fixed this problem??

I installed the BlazerTech's, with relay & harness and have no problems.

Check the ground from the harness and make sure it's got good contact, i.e., clean it up... other than that, you'll have to wait till the problem appears then start checking things, voltage tester, etc.

My passenger side only acts up if it's wet outside, i made a custom splash shield to hide the back of the passengers side fog light since no gp comes with one, only on the driver side is there a shield. But anyways, if it is wet out usually they'll turn right on, but if I turn them off then turn them back on, the passenger side won't turn back on.

well hid kits are supposed to be 100% waterproof. the ones i have for my fog lights are. i made sure of it when i bought them because of that exact reason for the passenger side not having a sheild. the ground is directly on the battery so should not be an issue there but i will dicsconect it and see if it will change something. il also try re-installing without the relay harness see what happenes. but they havent worked for a week now so hopefully it will stay that way i plan to check it out sometime this week.

Got a voltage tester? If so, before you go tearing apart the wiring, just start testing and track down the problem. Test voltage going into the relay, turn on/off dogs and test output. Test at the fog connection too. Test to ground and the ground wire as well. Isolate and identify the problem, otherwise you're not fixing it, just bypassing it... and doing more work than is maybe necessary.

    Regards!
