I have a 06, and I just installed a 760 Watt Pioneer Amp W/2 12' Pioneer Speakers to my stock deck. The New Deck is coming down the road, well I am still stuck between the fact after of spending 2 days on getting through the fire wall for the power wire. Now the brick wall that I have infront of me is how do I run my remote power wire to my Key/Ignition Power Wire.. Well with all the searching, haven't found a diagram or even anyone else who would know where the Key/Ignition power wire is?? Hopefully you guys can help. At this moment I am running my remote wire, I'll know you laugh but to the Truck Light Remote wire in my trunk.. So basically like normal Grand Prix's its basically hook up to my lights and my amp turns off during the day unless I have the lights on.. Does anyone know where to locate the Key/Ignition Power wire so I can run my remote wire for my amp? Thanks In Advance

LOL thats funny S*&^. do you have an aftermarket deck? why didn't you run a single wire from the back of the deck, to the remote port beside the power in the amp???

Read the thread close... Factory deck. That is why its not just as easy as running a wire from the remote wire on the back of the deck.

Thats pretty much the standard way of running your remote wire. I used to install the remote wire the same way when i used to work in the install bay at BEST BUY. If, you tap into a fuse in the fuse box make sure u check and see witch prong on the fuse has the postitive current flowing through it. U could also tap directly to your ignition wires. Go to Directechs.com that should tell you everything you would need to know to find a wire to tap into if that doesent work im sure there is a wiring diagram somewhere on this forum or another GP forum

The only other way is to run it to a toggle switch, but then you have to turn it on and off every time you listen to the radio. If you forget to turn it of, you'll end up with a dead batt. Wouldn't recommend this way unless really nessesary. If you want to take the time, you can find and tap into the radio power wire that gives the radio power when the ignition is on. It's just easier running to the fuse box though.

We used to just run it to the fuse box, less work, i always tried avoiding getting to the back of the radio like an Acura TL Son of a Bit** took 3 hours to get the back of the factory unit! Are cars are so easy though

Yea, I'd run to the fuse box before anything else first to, but you know some like to go the hard route. That's why I put that out there. The fuse box also has the acc. spare connector to were you can wire in that way also. Just gotta buy some of the clips to tie in.

This is what i did, and it works great, but if you do it this way add a toggle switch in the line also. This way anytime you turn the radio off for some reason, you can also turn off the amp. If i have the radio off and forget to turn the amp off too, there is a humming noise that comes through the subs. Adding the switch eliminates that.

or just tap the remote into the radio fuse, it will eliminate the need for a switch.

NO, it does not. The Radio power (turn on) fuse is just a branch of the ignition switch. In an aftermarket head unit, turning it off turns off power to the amp. When you turn your radio off, the radio power fuse is still active.

He's just saying that running the remote wire to the box with a fuse that gets power when the ignition is on, the amp will continue to be on when he cuts the radio off. Obviously. But, he says when he does this, he gets noise through the subs which happens with some amps that have power to them with no sound. so he basically ran a toggle switch to cut the amp off when he cuts the radio off.
