    Hello there,

I have a question for you. I have my subwoofer wired up to my factory nav head unit and everything works, (amp turns on, sub hits, etc.) However, there is one issue that is hindering the entire operation. For some reason, after about 40 seconds (after timing it about 6 times) the amp and the sub and everything shutoff; like some sort of automatic power-down. It's really frustrating and I have no idea why this would be the case, everything is wired up correctly and everything turns on when it should, but no matter what, it shuts off after about 40 seconds.

    Thank you.

    Does it continuously do it?

What are the makes and model numbers for your amp and sub?

There are a few things to check here. First, when the subs turn off, check your voltage at the turn-on lead at your amp. If you're not at 12v+ then thats your problem. (You may have your remote line connected to a line that loses voltage after a certain period of time) If the voltage is 12v+ at the turn-on and power line, then check the impedance of your subs to make sure your impedance/ohms are correct. If your voice coil has shorted, the impedance will drop to 0 and a lot of amps these days have built in protection that will stop the amp when it sees 0 resistance.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

Sounds like you have the AMP Remote line wired to the head units Power Antenna trigger wire...

As everyone else said, check the remote turn on lead. Also does the amp go into protect mode?

Well I figured that maybe I had it wired up to a lead that loses power after 40 seconds at first, but then I tested it with a few others and the same thing happened continuously. So just to confirm that was the problem, I wired the turn on lead to a switch and had the switch wired to direct power (this is how the setup sits now.) After turning on the car and turning on the switch, the amp and sub turn on, but once again they turn off after a certain allotted amount of time, even when receiving direct signal to turn on.

Then that narrows it down to the amp area. Check your work back there. Something is wrong.

Is the amp going into protect mode or just shutting off completely

He says he has an amp.

To the op, when the amp cuts out check your voltages at the remote and power wire and see if the protect light is on. It's just weird as hell that it's at the same time interval. It's almost like the power supply section can't handle the juice.
