Im putting a cd player in my sisters 05 grand prix (no monsoon/onstar/etc) and im a little confused on which harness I should use. I don't want to spend a lot of money on it and I don't care if she looses her door chimes. I was looking at the metra 70-2003 but I think I read somewhere I have to tap into another wire to retain rap, and to make the cd player to turn off/on with the car. What do you recommend? Thanks guys!

With any of the 04+ Wire Harness, you do have to tap into an Accessory wire/fuse to keep RAP (radio stays on until the door is opened.) Thats just the way that the Harness is. I tapped mine to the Sunroof fuse b/c its the only other fuse that stays on until the door is opened. (i just put 1 size bigger fuse in it)

what if she doesn't have a sunroof? Will the wiring still be there?

The fuse should still be there just with nothing in it...I would check tho. Its on the inside panel on the pass side. Just pull the cover off and see if you have a opening for the sunroof fuse and see if you can tap it. If not, im not sure what other wire goes off when the door is opened.

My wiring harness keeps my radio on until I open the doors and I didnt have to tap into anything. I did get the box that keeps the chime and everything though, maybe that is the difference. But like I said, I did not tapping in my 08 and the radio stays on until I open that door. It has even stayed on, once, after the door was open.... dont understand that one yet.

Just go to bestbuy and tell them what you need. I got mine there "2007 grand prix gt" all they asked is if it had onstar, monsoon system and three our five button. Wiring harness cost me 99 bucks

Oh ok. The one i bought had a seperate red wire for the Constant and it required me to tap into another constant source. I thought it was just that harness @ Autozone but I researched it and all the Metra harnesses for our cars are like that. And the one im talking about is the one where you have to color match all the wires on the back of the radio for it to connect to the car.

Found my wiring harness box. It is an Axxess Interace wiring harness. Part Number: GMRC-02

This was the whole chime box and wiring harness.

Yes, it was $100 because it keeps all factory chimes and stuff.

Ok, once I find which wire to tap into, do I hook it up to the yellow or red wire coming out of the deck?

match the colors up, which normally would be fine but apparently theres no wire coming otu of the car to turn the car on, ive hooked up many cd/dvd players but the wiring was all straight forward. Im assuming it's the wire I tap into---->red wire coming out of deck, but i just want to make sure before I hook it up.
